Under the direction of an Environmental Services Supervisor (ESS), perform the duties as a Custodial Lead worker by directing the work performed by crew of custodians. Assist the Environmental Services Supervisor in developing custodial objectives and the associated tasks. Implement work plans as directed by the assigned Environmental Services Supervisor. Check work, assist with training and instruction on the proper cleaning methods and safe operation of all equipment. Remove facility equipment from service and make arrangements for equipment repair, order supplies, and perform assigned custodial tasks.
This position is not eligible for hybrid work and requires 100% onsite work.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Perform custodial and floor maintenance duties including but not limited to:
Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas
Complete floor cleaning/maintenance assignments
Remove waste and recyclables
Maintain clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
Monitors and secures facility interior areas and exterior entrances, and reports issues to appropriate entities. Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
Assume responsibility for ensuring the areas assigned are cleaned to established standards.
Ensure that work schedules are met and work assignments are completed.
Review and report progress of the work group to the ESS daily.
In accordance with instructions provided by, and in the absence of, the ESS, reassign work within area to cover for custodial absences.
Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
Other duties as assigned
Schedules, monitors, and communicates with staff and assists with basic training
Responds to facility emergency and hazardous situations, and escalates incidents according to established policies and procedures

Compensation: $19 per hour
Required Qualifications:
Ability to move furniture
General knowledge of cleaning
Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s license (or other such valid operator’s permit recognized by the
Wisconsin Department of Transportation) and be able to meet or exceed the minimum requirements for driving
on state business as detailed here: https://uwm.edu/risk-management/drivers/
Availability to be on-call for one full weekend every one to two months (generally scheduled in advance).
Basic proficiency with electronic communication methods (e.g. email).
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years lead work or supervision in a college or university setting.
Previous cleaning experience in a college or university setting.
Documented experience using scrubbing machines
Documented experiencing using buffing machines
Documented experience using carpet cleaning machines
