Job DetailsJob Location: CFI Main Campus - Milwaukee, WI 53233Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: Bachelor's DegreeTravel Percentage: Up to 25%Job Category: Nonprofit - Social Services Job Purpose: The Development Director leads CFI’s comprehensive fundraising strategy to ensure sustainable revenue growth in support of the organization’s mission. This role oversees donor cultivation, major gifts, grants, events and development operations. The Director builds strong relationships with donors, partners and community stakeholders while guiding the Fund Development team to achieve annual fundraising goals. Develop and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising strategy that supports organizational priorities and revenue goals. The Director should have the ability to pivot strategy based on real-time data or shifts in the economic landscape. Build and manage a portfolio of prospects and donors with the capacity to contribute major gifts. Review and ensure accuracy of the CRM’s (Bloomerang) data to facilitate the creation of multi-year revenue projections and tracking donor/grant pipelines. Oversee the full grant lifecycle, including research, proposal development, submission, reporting and compliance. Lead planning and execution of fundraising events, annual campaigns and special initiatives in collaboration with internal teams. Build and maintain strong relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, foundations and community stakeholders to advance CFI’s mission. Supervise development staff and oversee development operations, including gift processing, donor acknowledgment and reporting accuracy. Ensure fundraising practices comply with ethical standards, agency policies and industry best practices. Serve as the lead staff liaison to the Board, empowering members with the data, training, and collateral needed to meet organizational fundraising targets. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Performs human resources responsibilities for employees which includes onboarding, training, coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall employee morale. Recommends hiring, terminations, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions and terminations. Reviews and approves accurate report of time. Responsible for ensuring that personal actions, and actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the program funders, contracts, and CFI business. Qualifications Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure and Credentials: (Where appropriate, education and/or experience may be substituted) Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, marketing or related field. Juris Doctor or Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted where appropriate. Minimum Required Experience: 5+ years of progressive fundraising or development experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership or department head role. Demonstrated success securing major gifts (six figure), public, private and federal grants and managing donor relationships. Experience supervising staff or leading teams preferred. Required License – Certification – Registration: Issued By Governing Body : CPA, Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) or specialized CRM certifications (e.g., Salesforce Admin. or HubSpot Academy) preferred. Travel Type: Up to 25% Required Valid Driver’s License: Valid Wisconsin driver’s license Required Auto Insurance: Vehicle liability insurance in accordance with Agency policy Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically. Proficiency with donor management/CRM systems such as Bloomerang. Solid financial and basic accounting skills to support fund development activities, including understanding gift processing, revenue tracking, and reconciliation with finance. Physical Requirements, Visual Acuity, and Work Conditions: Physical Requirements: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
