  • Understands and satisfies the needs of the neonatal, infant, toddler, pre-school, school-age, adolescent and/or adult patient in regards to their growth and development process.
  • Capability and flexibility to travel to other CAPS CACs to assist with providing services.
  • Patient Care * Prepares exam rooms to meet safety and clinical requirements. * Greets patient and families and directs them to exam rooms. * Obtains and document patient’s height, weight and vital signs and perform a manual blood pressure. Reports any observations or concerns to the nurse practitioner or physician. * Assists the nurse practitioner and physician in the exam process and with procedures as directed. * Administers immunizations and other injections under the direction of the nurse practitioner and/or the physician. * Performs point of care testing according to established policies, if applicable. * Collects and labels specimens and ensures delivery to the appropriate department.
  • Clinic Operations * Maintains clinic flow, monitoring patient location and wait time. * Maintains a clean, organized and safe environment within the clinic area. * Assures that the quantity of supplies is adequate and appropriate for the clinic needs. * Assures that equipment needed for patient care is available at all times. Addresses any deficiencies or unsafe equipment with the appropriate department. Cleans equipment after use. * Communicates with physicians, leaders, and staff to maintain clinic operations.
  • Clerical Support * Greets patient and family in a welcoming manner, ensuring confidentiality and privacy. * Updates/verifies demographic, guarantor data, and insurance information in the electronic health record. * Utilizes the electronic clinical information systems to support clinic operations and patient care.

Education:

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program preferred

Experience:

  • 1+ years related medically related experience preferred
  • Pediatric experience and experience in administering immunizations and other injections preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Epic system preferred.
  • Ability to work with a diverse patient population to ensure an emotionally safe and culturally competent environment.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to interact effectively with interdisciplinary health team members and consumers.
  • Physical ability to lift and position patients weighing up to 75 pounds, as well as push and pull when performing cleaning functions.
  • Frequently bends, lifts, twists, reached, and squats.
  • Occasionally push/pulls and does overhead work.
  • Ability to walk and/or stand for long periods, over 80 percent of the work period, while assisting in patient care.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CMA-Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants preferred or in lieu of this, 6 months of MA or EMT experience.
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required

**CAPS-Child Advocacy and Protection Services**

Clinic Schedule:

  • Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:00pm
  • Possible travel to Lakeshore Child Advocacy Center (Saukville, WI) and our Waukesha Child Advocacy Center only if there is shortages
