Description

Summary: The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting finished products, ensuring quality standards are maintained through new product launches, and assisting with special projects in the quality department.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Performs and records visual and dimensional inspections utilizing different measurement tools.
  • Interprets blueprints for inspection processes i.e. inspection plans.
  • Provides input for inspection methods and improvements related to the job.
  • Conducts final piece inspections including packaging for critical customers.
  • Assists Production and Quality Department in investigations of process related quality issues.
  • Writes non-conforming Material Reports when required and quarantines products that have been rejected.
  • Assists Quality and Production Department with ISIR, PPAP, APQP, and capability studies.
  • Completes accurate records (on paper and electronic data) in order to provide definitive results of data requested.
  • Organizes work and storage areas for efficient workflow.
  • Complete additional projects and tasks as assigned. This may include assisting in other departments such as maintenance, fabrication, and engineering.
  • Follows and complies with all safety regulations, work rules and maintains clean and orderly work area.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of on-the-job experience in quality inspection or a related field. Certified quality inspector, auditor, or engineer preferred.

  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers, vendors and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to critically think and solve problems.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or visual format. Also interprets pipe schedule.
  • Must understand types of measurement, measurement terminology, and the different types of measurement scales.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and know definitions of critical, major and minor characteristics.
  • Must have basic calibration knowledge.
  • Must be able to identify inspection errors, report nonconformance, and initiate resolution.
  • Knowledge of company product lines.
