Oversees daily management, receipt and distribution of materials (supplies) for multiple departments throughout the hospital and outpatient clinical areas. Primary duties will include supply room cleaning and organization, department customer service, reviewing item par levels and usage, bin optimization, material ordering, receiving and stocking, assisting with manufacturer recall notifications. Follows the direction of the Supply Chain Lead. Aids in training, mentoring and developing new Supply Technicians. Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
- Assist in unloading trucks, checks for supply orders and distribute supplies to inpatient, outpatient and other clinical areas.
- Understands lean supply philosophy, performs basic analytics using Microsoft products and other tools available through supply chain management systems.Â
- Performs material receiving functions which includes verifying correct items, quantities, tagging and labeling supply bins.
- Collaborates with department staff to adjust par levels, coordinate opportunities for improvements, implement and maintain the standardized supply model.
- Provides daily oversight of material functions while ensuring a safety focused environment complying with Joint Commission standards and performs housekeeping functions in supply rooms.
- Processes stock and non-stock orders in the inventory management systems, coordinates with warehouse Logistics team to resolve order issues, discrepancies, recalls and returns to vendor.
- Fills requisitions or requests for materials and distributes items to its designated storage location.
- Ensures that the correct requisition is determined before moving or distributing items to its designated location.
- Moves materials and supplies from the dock to its designated location within the hospital.
- Assembles customers’ orders from delivered stock and places materials in its correct supply location/bin on the designated unit.
- Ensures that stock rotations are done on a daily basis.
- Records materials received for accuracy and corrects on hand inventory.
- Ensures that room maintenance is performed including dusting of bins as needed.
- Ensures that monthly expiration checks are done on inventory items.
- Completes requisition forms to order supplies from other departments.
- Places supply orders to replenish unit inventory of stock items.
- Performs scale maintenance to ensure accuracy of order placement.
- Ensures that Supply Chain Alerts are readily available in par locations to inform end users of product changes.
- Utilizes the PeopleSoft Materials Management Information System (MMIS), along with interfaces to PeopleSoft Mobile and Par Excellence software to perform all daily activities related to stock and non-stock supplies within the CHW Main Campus.
- Takes call to meet staffing needs of the supply chain division. (may apply to casual employees only)
Requirements
​High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED)
Preferred
Experience in a service related environment
Experience with an automated Materials Management Information System (MMIS) or similar computer system that has on-line functions.
PeopleSoft MMIS, Par Excellence, and PeopleSoft Mobile software and/or client-server or web-based MMIS experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to stand and walk 95% of the time.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail while ordering, filling and replenishing supply requisitions.
- Ability to safely operate  a pallet jack and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds and the ability to push/pull carts requiring up to 40 pounds of effort to initiate movement.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Windows based software required with Outlook, Excel, and Word experience preferred.
- Requires flexibility to be available for on-call to meet department needs.
- This individual must possess a strong sense of personal accountability, service orientation, sensitivity and responsiveness to the requests of user departments.
- Must have good interpersonal communication skills necessary to work with other Materials Services staff, as well as with customer department staff.  Must also have the ability to interact effectively with CHHS patient families, leaders, staff, and physicians.
- Ability to follow general directions and to prioritize daily workload and make related decisions for assigned tasks.
