Position Summary

The Janitorial Lead Worker oversees and participates in the daily cleaning and maintenance of assigned facilities to ensure a safe, clean and sanitary environment. This position provides day-to-day guidance and directions to janitorial staff, assigns work, monitors performance and quality standards. The Lead Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment while providing leadership, training and support to assigned staff. The Janitorial Lead Worker also performs routine custodial duties and ensures all work is completed in accordance with organizational policies, safety procedures, and established cleaning standards.

This position requires someone who leads by example, communicates effectively, and promotes accountability, teamwork, and high-quality work standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors.
  • Dust and clean offices, furniture, windows, and common areas.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, kitchens, and break rooms.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers.
  • Restock restroom and kitchen supplies.
  • Report maintenance and repair issues to management.
  • Follow all company and client safety policies and procedures.
  • Assign work and provide directions to employees.
  • Train, coach, and support new and existing staff.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and train employees on cleaning equipment.
  • Monitor cleaning quality and ensure company standards are met.
  • Order supplies and maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Ensure equipment is clean, properly maintained, and operating safely.
  • Complete inspections and communicate deficiencies to supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Report concerns regarding, safety, harassment, or discrimination to a supervisor, operations manager or HR.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of janitorial experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial cleaning methods and procedures.
  • Experience operating and maintaining floor scrubbers, burnishers, vacuums, carpet extractors, and other

custodial equipment.

  • Knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety practices.
  • Ability to train employees in proper cleaning procedures and safe equipment operation.
  • Ability to provide constructive coaching and performance feedback.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.


Work Environment

     • Office building, interaction with building customers and the public.
