Your Opportunity

Our Twin Cities Metro team is growing, and we need an experienced design engineer to help us deliver quality design projects to the communities we serve. As a member of our Urban Mobility team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to find new ways of improving the transportation experience for communities in our backyard, across North America, and around the globe. With the deep and varied resources from across Stantec at your disposal, you will have the opportunity to use your imagination to find new ways of improving transportation and identifying solutions that meet the needs of our clients.

Your role will include leading and assisting our Urban Mobility team with small, mid-sized and large-scale design projects with the support of our passionate and skilled colleagues. With access to Stantec’s global network of multi-disciplinary teams with diverse backgrounds that inspire new ways of thinking, you can be a technical expert or leverage the expertise of your co-workers. Your creativity will be applied to a variety of projects including urban corridors, roundabouts, bikeways and a variety of other design opportunities.

You will play a primary role in growing our design team by being a technical lead and mentoring junior staff. You will join a dedicated group of professionals who are eager to take their capabilities to the next level and more fully leverage the resources and expertise of a global company. In this role, you will connect with existing and potential clients, and lead projects to further establish our organization as a top transportation engineering firm. Your work may also include coordinating with, and providing support to, the Transportation and Community Development teams on projects throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and beyond.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for urban transportation, and concepts such as traffic calming, and safety for all road users to bring a vision to life by bringing together top talent to deliver great solutions while actively designing transportation projects. As a design engineer, you will deliver projects within scope and budget; provide compliant and technically sound designs; manage, coach, and mentor resources effectively; proactively build relationships within an organization; and actively manage, maintain, and expand external client relationships.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of roadway design projects for cities, counties, and state DOT’s. .
  • Collaborate with staff from local offices and greater Stantec to provide support, access expertise, and secure assistance on projects as needed.
  • Stay abreast of market trends and client concerns and develop responsive solutions.
  • Support an energetic and collaborative team culture that drives great results.
  • Prepare design concepts, Preliminary Geometric Layouts and Final Design construction plan sets.
  • Perform CADD design of roadways incorporating State DOT, County, and local practices and procedures.
  • Perform CADD design in MicroStation/ OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D as it relates to roadway design, including 3D corridor models.
  • Prepare transportation related reports including design memos and feasibility reports.
  • Prepare project cost estimates and specifications.
  • Assists in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to requests for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.
  • Supervise and manage design technicians and EIT’s performing roadway CADD design.
  • Mentor staff to develop each to their full potential.
  • Client service, development, management, and growth.
  • Review work for accuracy and coordinates with others to ensure quality assurance and quality control for all final products

 


Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
