Job Overview

We at Fairview Health Services are looking for a cardiology technician to join our team at our University of Minnesota Medical Center (East Bank) located in Minneapolis, MN. 

The Cardiology Technician is responsible for providing diagnostic testing inpatients and outpatients. This includes 12-Lead ECGs, Holter, Event and BP monitor application. The Cardiology Technician will perform various duties assigned by the supervisor including, but not limited to, retrieval of supplies for/from different units, and retrieval/restocking of linen.  

 

Schedule: This position is 0.70 FTE (56 hours every two weeks) and includes 8-hour evening and overnight shifts with an every-other-weekend rotation. The schedule includes working every Tuesday from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm and every Thursday from 10:45 pm to 7:15 am. In addition, the position requires working every other weekend (Friday through Sunday) from 10:45 pm to 7:15 am each night.

 

As a Cardiology Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing ECG’s, and application of stress and Holter, Event, and BP monitor.
  • Preparing patients for examinations and explaining procedures to patients.
  • Performing all file maintenance activities related to the tests including filing, copying, faxing, and file pulling.
  • Maintaining all testing equipment.
  • Troubleshooting of equipment issues and conducting preventative maintenance checks.
  • Initiating service calls on equipment not working.
  • In the absence of stress testing and supervise application, the Cardiology Technician will perform various duties assigned by the nursing supervisor (ANS).
  • Other duties, as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • 0-2 years EKG or patient care experience
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)

Preferred Qualifications

  • A.A./A.S. or vocational/technical training
  • Completion of accredited cardiac technician program or equivalent clinical experience
  • 2 years EKG or patient care experience
