POSITION SUMMARY:
NMDP is a non-profit organization in the exciting and rapidly evolving cellular therapy industry. We seek an Enterprise Architect to provide enterprise-wide architecture leadership across business capabilities, technology domains, and strategic initiatives, helping the organization make coherent, secure, scalable, and future-ready technology decisions.
Enterprise Architecture is a critical function that supports strategic planning, technology governance, and alignment of the organization's technology landscape with business goals. The Enterprise Architect is responsible for developing target-state architecture, roadmaps, standards, and decision guidance that connect business strategy to applications, data, cloud resources, infrastructure, security, and integration capabilities.
The Enterprise Architect works actively across the broader organization, partnering with business leaders, product and delivery teams, and supporting capabilities. This role provides pragmatic guidance on architecture standards, modernization priorities, technology risk, resiliency, security-by-design, cloud adoption, and infrastructure evolution while helping teams balance enterprise consistency with delivery needs.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•    Develop and maintain the overall technology strategy and roadmap
•    Ensure technology initiatives align with organizational strategy, business capabilities, risk posture, operational needs, and long-term technology direction.
•    Provide guidance and direction to technology teams on system architecture, design, and development best practices and standards.
•    Identify and manage technology risks, dependencies, capability gaps, and modernization opportunities through active participation in architecture governance and planning forums.
•    Collaborate across the architecture community and broader organization to promote reuse, reduce complexity, and improve the consistency, resiliency, security, and scalability of enterprise solutions.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
•    Partner with business and technology leaders across the organization to translate strategic priorities, business capabilities, and operational needs into actionable architecture roadmaps and decision guidance.
•    Lead enterprise-level architecture analysis, including current-state assessments, target-state definition, fit-gap analysis, transition planning, future-state vision, technology rationalization, and modernization recommendations.
•    Provide enterprise-level guidance to internal architecture, platform, and application teams
•    Define and promote reusable reference architectures, integration patterns, standards, and architecture decision records that enable consistent, secure, and efficient solution delivery.
•    Facilitate cross-functional architecture discussions to resolve tradeoffs, identify dependencies, reduce duplication, and build alignment across stakeholders.
•    Play an active role in Architecture Review Board activities by evaluating solution proposals, clarifying enterprise impacts, documenting decisions, and helping teams meet architecture expectations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
•    Business architecture and how capabilities, value streams, processes, and operating models support business strategy and technology planning.
•    Enterprise technology architecture, including applications, data, integrations, cloud platforms, infrastructure, security, resiliency, operations, Salesforce platform capabilities, and Oracle ERP capabilities.
•    Enterprise architecture frameworks, governance practices, architecture decision records, standards management, and roadmap development.
•    Security architecture concepts, cloud governance, infrastructure modernization, identity and access patterns, data protection, and risk-based architecture decision making.
•    Emerging technologies, industry trends, regulatory expectations, and compliance considerations relevant to healthcare, data, cloud, and enterprise platforms.

Ability to:
•    Move easily between enterprise strategy, business capability needs, technical architecture details, and practical delivery constraints.
•    Act as a trusted advisor across technology domains, providing guidance to other architecture, platform, and delivery teams.
•    Influence stakeholders without direct authority by building alignment, clarifying tradeoffs, and driving practical architecture decisions in a matrixed environment.
•    Work side-by-side with solution architects, domain architects, engineers, product teams, and operations teams on secure, scalable, resilient, and supportable solution designs.
•    Learn business use-cases quickly and communicate complex architecture concepts clearly to audiences with diverse technical and business backgrounds.
•    Anticipate stakeholder needs, identify options, and recommend pragmatic paths that balance business value, risk, cost, complexity, and long-term maintainability

  • Must be able to work on site at our World Headquarters in Minneapolis approximately once a month

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
•    A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field or a combination of years of experience, and/or certifications in information technology.

Experience:
•    Possess 8+ years of IT architecture experience, with demonstrated experience in enterprise, solution, cloud, infrastructure, security, data, or application architecture.
•    Experience developing enterprise roadmaps, target-state architectures, reference architectures, standards, and architecture decision guidance across multiple technology domains.
•    Experience advising or partnering with Information Security, cloud/platform, infrastructure, application, data, and delivery teams on complex technology initiatives.
•    Experience leading significant technology planning or modernization efforts, including strategy development, roadmap creation, dependency management, and stakeholder alignment.
•    Experience participating in or guiding major Salesforce or ERP implementation, modernization, migration, or integration efforts, including cross-functional planning, architecture alignment, and enterprise impact assessment.
•    Skilled in risk management, architecture governance, standards adoption, vendor and technology evaluation, and communication of complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
