The Animal Husbandry Assistant role at SEA LIFE Aquarium Minnesota is part of our amazing Displays Team! This is a full-time opportunity with flexible hours, perfect for someone passionate about marine life and behind-the-scenes care

In this role, you’ll support our aquarists with the day-to-day care of both marine and freshwater exhibits. This includes assisting with diving , animal care, and helping keep our habitats looking their best.

You’ll be responsible for preparing diets , maintaining clean and organized backstage areas , monitoring water chemistry , and supporting general husbandry tasks. You’ll also have the chance to engage with guests by delivering fun and educational talks ️✨
All responsibilities are carried out under the guidance of our Displays Curator, giving you a great opportunity to learn and grow in a hands-on environment
Qualifications & Experience
What You'll Be Doing!:
• Work closely with the Displays Curator and team members to support daily operations • Assist aquarists with cleaning exhibit and backstage areas, preparing diets , feeding animals, and providing excellent day-to-day care for aquatic habitats • Bring the exhibits to life by delivering interactive guest programming and engaging presentations ✨• Create memorable moments by connecting with guests and supporting daily public talks ️• Help evolve and enhance display areas in line with the company’s long-term vision • Support dive operations as a diver or secondary tender
• Uphold and meet all AZA, USDA, and Merlin Health and Safety standards to ensure a safe and high-quality environment ️

What YOU Bring To The Team!:
• 1 year of experience and knowledge of aquatic animal care (diet preparation) in a professional aquarium setting preferred • SCUBA certification is a plus (Rescue Diver especially!)
• Experience working with guests or in a public-facing role, bringing great energy and service • Strong attention to detail to help keep our animals and habitats thriving
Education:We’re looking for candidates who are passionate about the field and eager to learn! ✨• Currently working toward a degree in Life Sciences such as Biology, Marine Biology, Zoology, or Psychology • Or hands-on experience in aquarium science through work in an aquarium or zoo, especially in education or animal care • Or a combination of education in another field paired with practical, real-world experience
