Position Summary: The Refrigeration Piper is responsible for installing, assembling, and maintaining refrigeration piping systems for commercial and industrial HVAC/R applications. This includes layout, fabrication, brazing, pressure testing, and ensuring all piping meets code, safety standards, and system specifications. The ideal candidate is skilled in pipefitting for refrigeration systems and can work independently or as part of an installation team. 1st shift: 5:30 am - 3:00 pm, M - Th; 6:00 am - 12:00 pm, F Currently located in Maple Grove, but this role will be moving to Dayton in June 2026. Key Responsibilities: Piping Installation & Fabrication Install and assemble refrigeration piping systems using copper, steel, and other materials. Braze, solder, swage, flare, and thread piping to meet system design requirements. Prepare pipe layouts based on blueprints, schematics, and instructions. Install components such as valves, strainers, receivers, oil separators, coils, and line sets. Support installation of refrigeration equipment (compressors, condensers, evaporators). System Testing & Quality Perform pressure testing and leak detection on newly installed piping. Evacuate and prepare systems for charging by refrigeration technicians. Ensure all piping is installed to industry codes, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications. Inspect joints, fittings, and supports to verify quality workmanship. Tools & Equipment Safely operate cutting tools, threading machines, torches, and brazing equipment. Use measuring tools (tape, levels, gauges) to ensure accurate and clean installations. Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition. Documentation & Compliance Follow drawings, plans, and job specifications accurately. Document work completed and any issues encountered. Adhere to OSHA guidelines, company safety policies, and refrigerant handling regulations. Maintain clean and organized work areas. Qualifications & Requirements: Required: High school diploma or equivalent. 5+ years of experience in pipefitting, refrigeration piping, or HVAC/R installation. Proficiency in brazing and refrigeration piping techniques. Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various environments. Preferred: Trade school or apprenticeship in HVAC/R or pipefitting. Familiarity with commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. OSHA certification or safety training.
