Job Summary: Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, hydraulic system, pneumatic tools, electric tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

•Observes mechanical devices in operation and diagnoses malfunctions.

•Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

•Makes approved modifications to machinery and equipment to meet production needs.

•Repairs or replaces defective parts. Lubricates and cleans parts.

•Starts devices to test their performance.

•Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, welder, and other metalworking tools to fabricate and repair parts.

•Effectively install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, PLC, and hydraulic issues on production equipment, conveyor systems, and facilities related equipment within the plant.

•Keeps accurate maintenance and preventative maintenance records and ensures that all revisions to equipment and tools are properly recorded.

•Determines equipment/parts needed for repair. Works with Supply Chain department to purchase.

•Utilizes the CMMS module in the ERP system.

•Keeps the shop and work area neat and orderly.

•Ability to solve a variety of practical problems by using experience and logic.

•Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

•Appropriately respond to chemical spill incidents involving both hazardous (ignitable, corrosive, reactive, toxic) and non-hazardous chemicals to prevent a negative impact to employee health and safety as well as the environment, including containment, cleanup, and disposal of spills. Maintenance Technicians are part of the designated Spill Response Team.

•The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Education and Experience: Applicable associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or Technical school; or five or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, blueprints, schematics, short correspondence and memos; basic math skills, effective communication skills, working knowledge of computer systems and office equipment. Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical drive, systems.
