Maintenance Mechanic / Equipment Technician

Powersports, Automotive, Small Engine & Equipment Mechanics Encouraged to Apply

If you can figure out why a machine isn't working, take it apart, fix it, put it back together, and make it run again, we want to talk to you.

You do not need previous packaging or manufacturing maintenance experience for this position.

International Packaging is looking for a mechanically inclined problem solver to help maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve the equipment that keeps our production operation moving.

Some of our best maintenance people have come from backgrounds outside traditional manufacturing. If you've worked on snowmobiles, ATVs, motorcycles, cars, trucks, boats, small engines, farm equipment, construction equipment, or other mechanical systems, your experience may translate very well to what we do.

We'll teach you our equipment.

We're looking for someone who already knows how to think mechanically.

Position Details

Position: Maintenance Mechanic / Equipment Technician
Location: Brooklyn Park, MN
Job Type: Full-Time, On-site
Schedule:
 • 1st Shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
 • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
 • Overtime may occasionally be needed based on production requirements

Compensation: $27.00 to $40.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated mechanical capability

What You'll Work On

Our production operation includes packaging machines, wrappers, feeders, conveyors, motors, sensors, pneumatic systems, electrical components, and other mechanical equipment.

Specific equipment includes Campbell Wrappers / SASIB, Syntegon equipment, BVM equipment, friction feeders, rotary feeders, and related production systems.

Don't recognize those names? That's okay.

If you understand how mechanical systems work and know how to troubleshoot a problem, we can teach you the machines.

What You'll Do

Diagnose & Repair Equipment

• Troubleshoot machines when something isn't working correctly.

• Determine whether problems are mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, sensor-related, or setup-related.

• Repair or replace bearings, belts, chains, sprockets, motors, sensors, switches, cylinders, fittings, and other machine components.

• Use hand tools, power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment to identify problems.

• Make adjustments and repairs that get equipment safely back into production.

Keep Equipment Running

• Perform preventative maintenance before small problems become expensive ones.

• Inspect equipment for wear, damage, loose components, alignment issues, and other potential failures.

• Lubricate, adjust, clean, repair, and replace components as needed.

• Help production teams with machine setup, changeovers, and adjustments.

• Assist with installation and improvement of equipment.

Solve Problems

We aren't looking for someone who waits to be told exactly what to do.

We want someone who sees a machine isn't running correctly and starts asking:

What's happening?
 What's causing it?
 How do I fix it?
How do we keep it from happening again?

You'll work with Production and Operations to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.

You Might Be a Great Fit If You've Worked As A:

• Snowmobile or ATV mechanic
 • Powersports technician
 • Motorcycle mechanic
 • Automotive technician
 • Diesel mechanic
 • Marine or boat mechanic
 • Small engine mechanic
 • Outdoor power equipment technician
 • Farm or agricultural equipment mechanic
 • Heavy equipment mechanic
 • Fleet mechanic
 • Industrial maintenance technician
 • Machine repair technician
 • Field service technician
 • Electromechanical technician

Manufacturing experience is great.

Mechanical ability is more important.

What We're Looking For

Required

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability

• Experience repairing mechanical equipment, vehicles, engines, machinery, or similar systems

• Comfortable using hand tools and power tools

• Ability to diagnose problems rather than simply replace parts

• Willingness and ability to learn unfamiliar equipment

• Dependable attendance and ability to work your scheduled shift

• Strong safety awareness

• Ability to work independently while also supporting Production and Operations

• High school diploma or equivalent

Helpful, But Not Required

• Basic electrical troubleshooting

• Experience using a multimeter

• Understanding of motors, sensors, switches, relays, and basic electrical systems

• Experience with pneumatic or hydraulic systems

• Welding or fabrication experience

• Experience reading mechanical diagrams, equipment manuals, or schematics

• Manufacturing or industrial maintenance experience

• Packaging, printing, or converting equipment experience

• Forklift certification

The Person We're Really Looking For

You probably enjoy figuring out how things work.

When something breaks, your first reaction isn't to throw it away. You want to know why it broke.

You might be the person friends call when their snowmobile won't start, their trailer isn't working right, their four-wheeler needs repair, or some piece of equipment is making a noise it definitely shouldn't be making.

You take pride in fixing things correctly.

You're dependable.

You don't mind getting your hands dirty.

And you're interested in taking the mechanical skills you've developed and applying them to a stable, full-time career maintaining production equipment.

If that sounds like you, we'd like to meet you.
