The Senior Accountant will own key accounting processes, including financial reporting, month-end close, client billing, and the financial administration of engagements. A significant responsibility will be ownership and administration of the project management system, including engagement setup, time and expense activity, billing workflows, financial data, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management System & Client Billing

  • Serve as the primary accounting owner and administrator of the project management system, ensuring engagements, billing structures, time, expenses, and financial information are properly established and maintained.
  • Manage engagement-related accounting and billing activities and partner with project managers and operational leaders to ensure accurate information, timely billing, and visibility into financial performance.

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Lead monthly close and financial reporting for assigned entities and client work, including reconciliations, variance analysis, and management reporting.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity, resolve accounting issues, support audits and budgeting, and ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Oversee fixed assets, capital activity, and other assigned accounting responsibilities.

Management

  • Establish priorities, assign and review work, and ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time.

Process Improvement

  • Improve accounting, project management, billing, time and expense, and reporting processes while strengthening documentation, controls, and system utilization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, with 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong experience with financial reporting, month-end close, general ledger accounting, and GAAP.
  • Strong systems aptitude and experience with project/engagement management, ERP, time and expense, or billing systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • CPA preferred but not required.

Key Attributes

The successful candidate will be coachable, analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated, accountable, and collaborative, with strong critical-thinking and communication skills. They will demonstrate sound professional judgment, adaptability, a continuous-improvement mindset, and the ability to work independently and bring solutions forward.

Preferred Experience

Experience in professional services, consulting, engineering, construction, or other project-oriented organization is preferred, particularly in environments where engagements are managed through systems supporting time and expense, billing, financial reporting, and related accounting activity. Experience working with project managers and operational teams, managing accounting support resources, and improving accounting systems and processes is preferred.
