What you’ll do Â
We are seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to take technical ownership of the utility and support systems that enable our production processes. You will be a member of the Process Engineering team but work closely with facilities, equipment, and EHS teams. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving, system design, and ensuring safe, reliable operation of gas and liquid handling infrastructure.Â
Â
This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing pre-revenue company where you will take ownership of critical engineering projects right away, with the potential to grow into broader technical and team leadership responsibilities over time.Â
Â
Roles and ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Ensure safe, compliant, and reliable design, installation, modification, and operation of utility and support systems that interface with chemical processes, including those involving hazardous gases, treatment systems, and recycle routesÂ
- Lead or support utility‑related projects from concept through commissioning, including design input, vendor engagement, contractor coordination, installation oversight, and system qualificationÂ
- Conduct engineering evaluations, safety reviews, and hazard assessments to ensure systems meet internal and regulatory expectationsÂ
- Troubleshoot utility and process‑support systems, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actionsÂ
- Identify and drive improvements in system reliability, performance, maintainability, and capacityÂ
- Develop, revise, and maintain engineering documentation such as P&IDs, piping layouts, specifications, and standardsÂ
- Collaborate with Process Engineering, Facilities, Equipment, and EHS teams to align utility capabilities with production needs and safety requirementsÂ
- Contribute to long‑term planning for utility infrastructure, including upgrades, expansions, and standardizationÂ
What we are looking forÂ
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering fieldÂ
- Experience working with fluid or mechanical systems in an industrial, R&D, or manufacturing environmentÂ
- Ability to develop, revise, and markup engineering drawings (P&IDs, piping layouts, specifications)Â
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot systems and apply sound engineering judgmentÂ
- Experience coordinating with contractors, vendors, or external service providersÂ
- Experience applying Process Safety Management practices, including hazard analysis, formal change management, and safe system design, startup, and operationÂ
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, facilities, and EHS teamsÂ
- Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects with minimal oversightÂ
- Exposure to commissioning, startup, or qualification of new equipment or infrastructureÂ
- Understanding of reliability concepts, maintenance strategies, or engineering standardsÂ
- Knowledge of relevant engineering codes or industry practicesÂ
Our pay and benefits Â
- $110,000 – $150,000, depending on experienceÂ
- Equity position in Niron via stock option grantÂ
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insuranceÂ
- Mental healthcareÂ
- 401k plan with company matchÂ
- Paid vacation, sick time, and holidaysÂ
- Experience in a fun, high-performing, manufacturing environmentÂ
