Position Summary
The Sushi Chef delivers an exceptional culinary and hospitality experience through the preparation and presentation of high-quality sushi offerings. This guest-facing role combines craftsmanship, creativity, and service, while also managing daily sushi operations including recipe execution, food safety, labor, and cost controls. The Sushi Chef actively engages with guests, leads by example in the kitchen, and mentors team members to uphold culinary standards and a premium member experience.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares and presents high-quality sushi while interacting with guests and ensuring a premium experience
- Designs and maintains sushi menus and pricing, with a focus on fresh ingredients and guest appeal
- Develops, tests, and refines sushi recipes and preparation techniques to ensure consistency and minimize waste
- Conducts regular inventory and orders supplies based on demand forecasting and quality standards
- Leads, trains, and mentors sushi team members to ensure consistency in preparation, presentation, and service
- Ensures all team members follow food safety, HACCP, and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe, clean work environment

Position Requirements
- Passion for culinary craftsmanship and guest service
- Ability to create and serve beautiful, high-quality sushi in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and willingness to engage with members and guests
- Ability to lead a team and deliver consistent results
- Knowledge of safe knife handling and kitchen tools
- Understanding of food safety and HACCP protocols
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally​

Education:
- Culinary degree or equivalent hands-on experience preferred

- 2 to 3 years of professional sushi preparation experience
Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:
- ServSafe Food Manager Certification or Equivalent
- ServSafe Alcohol Safety or Equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a guest-facing or open-kitchen concept
- Demonstrated ability to drive sales through presentation, specials, or guest engagement
- Experience with menu development, inventory management, and cost control
- Previous leadership or mentoring experience in a kitchen setting
Pay
This is an hourly position with wages starting at $19.75 and pays up to $26.50, based on experience and qualifications.Benefits
