What You Will Do
 

The Component Molding Specialist is responsible for independently performing complete mold changeovers and supporting injection molding production operations. Duties include advance mold and material preparation, mold removal and installation, machine startup and processing, robot and secondary equipment setup, and thorough cleanup and organization. Ensures machines, tools, and surrounding work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and production‑ready condition. Works under general direction with a high degree of independence, following established procedures and best practices. Responsible for resolving day‑to‑day operational issues, conducting frequent quality checks, supporting preventive and corrective actions to meet product standards, and monitoring production output to meet customer requirements.

  • Prepare molds and required supplies in advance of scheduled production runs to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Safely and correctly remove molds from injection molding machines and prepare them for transport to storage or the Tool Room.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on mold tools in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conduct daily inspections of molding equipment, including dryers, grinders, water temperature controllers, and molding machines, and report or address issues as required.
  • Start up production runs by entering processing parameters, verifying proper material drying and mixing ratios, and producing parts that meet dimensional and quality specifications.
  • Troubleshoot molding processes to ensure consistent production of acceptable products.
  • Execute all aspects of the mold change process, ensuring efficient shift transitions and clear communication of job status and instructions.
  • Set up and adjust all auxiliary and secondary equipment, including robots, related to job changes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment in accordance with 5S+1 standards.
  • Follow all procedures related to the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste and departmental trash.
  • Perform material handling duties as needed, including proper mixing, storing, and disposal of resins, colorants, regrind, and other additives.
  • Clean and assemble nozzles, material manifolds, and related components.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned to support production operations.


What You Will Bring

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of component or injection molding experience, including mold preparation, mold removal and installation, machine startup and processing, robot and secondary equipment setup, and dryer operation.
  • Working knowledge of material processing methods for a variety of resins.

Preferred: 

  • Minimum qualifications plus an additional 2 years of molding‑specific training, certification, or advanced technical coursework.
