The City of Minot is accepting applications for the position of Cemetery Manager for the Public Works Operations Department at the Rosehill Cemetery, with an application deadline of Wednesday, May 13th 2026. This position is open to all qualified internal and external applicants.


All applicants will be required to complete an online Civil Service Exam. The exam link will be sent via Test Genius to the email address provided on the application. Exam deadline: Friday, May 15th 2026.


Nature of Work

The Cemetery Manager oversees City-owned cemetery operations, including staff supervision, schedule management, sales, and coordination of burials and services. Duties include defining cemetery requirements, budget development, data analysis, sales/marketing, grave marking, excavation, columbarium services, and collaboration with funeral homes and vault providers. The role also involves maintaining the cemetery's appearance through landscaping and snow removal. The Manager plans work schedules for staff and seasonal crews, ensures accurate record-keeping while adhering to federal and state regulations, and works under the managerial direction of the Public Works Operations Director. Please read the attached job description for complete details.

 

Education, Experience, Other Requirements

  • Completion of high school and five years of progressively responsible experience in grounds keeping activities, including three years of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Focus will be on supervisory experience leading teams in grounds keeping activities.
  • Must possess of a valid North Dakota commercial driver’s license and appropriate endorsements for equipment used on premises.


Compensation

  • Salary is established under the 2026 City of Minot Annual Pay Plan, Grade 63:
     which is an earning potential of $60,093 – $89,208 annually ($28.89 – 42.89$/hour)
  • This is a full-time, FLSA Exempt position not eligible for overtime
