A Civil Engineer Intern with Houston Engineering Inc. (HEI) will spend time in the field working on outdoor construction phase activities and possibly a variety of in-office projects assisting engineers.

Job Description

As an intern, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

  • Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
  • Observation and data collection at different types of project sites.
  • Assist with research, development and design of projects.

We strive to provide a personalized internship based on your area of interest. This may include learning how to do roadway design, geometric layout, drainage analysis, erosion control, and construction engineering.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled or enrolling in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering program.
  • Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
  • Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
  • Above average math and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.
