We are seeking a hands-on, solutions-driven Facilities Manager who takes ownership of building operations, enjoys problem-solving in real time, and is motivated by keeping our branches safe, functional, and looking their best. Role Summary
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall management, maintenance, repair, and improvement of all North Star Community Credit Union facilities. This includes building systems, grounds, renovations, vendor management, and coordination of new construction projects.
This role partners closely with branch managers across all communities served to ensure facilities consistently reflect a professional, safe, and welcoming environment.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee all building maintenance needs, including heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Ensure all systems operate efficiently and safelyÂ
- Maintain accurate records of building systems, equipment status, and maintenance historyÂ
- Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, fire codes, and regulatory requirementsÂ
- Identify and select contracted service providers as neededÂ
Contractor & Project Management
- Serve as primary liaison for all facility-related contractors and vendorsÂ
- Oversee maintenance, repair, renovations, and construction projectsÂ
- Monitor contractor performance, responsiveness, and quality of workÂ
- Verify completion of contracted work to credit union standardsÂ
- Coordinate third-party services including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, janitorial, carpet, elevator, and snow removalÂ
Vendor Compliance & Contract Oversight
- Monitor vendor compliance with all facility-related contractsÂ
- Review, maintain, and manage service agreements and renewal termsÂ
- Ensure vendors meet performance expectations and contractual obligationsÂ
Branch Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with branch managers to identify maintenance needs and coordinate repairsÂ
- Schedule and conduct routine facility maintenance visitsÂ
- Ensure timely communication regarding facility issues, repairs, and updatesÂ
- Develop and monitor an annual inspection and maintenance schedule for each location.
Planning, Budgeting & Capital Projects
- Develop and manage annual facilities budgetÂ
- Plan, estimate, and schedule facility improvements and renovationsÂ
- Evaluate feasibility of building modifications and minor construction projectsÂ
- Obtain and compare contractor bids and recommendationsÂ
- Support design and execution of facility upgrades and improvementsÂ
Emergency Response & Issue Resolution
- Respond to facility emergencies promptly in person, by phone, or via text as needed
- Provide timely resolution and follow-up on facility-related issues or complaintsÂ
Facilities Standards & Grounds Maintenance
- Ensure consistent cleanliness, safety, and curb appeal across all locationsÂ
- Coordinate cleaning schedules and grounds maintenanceÂ
- Oversee landscaping and exterior facility upkeepÂ
- Maintain adequate inventory of maintenance supplies and equipmentÂ
Fleet & Equipment Management
- Manage company vehicles including maintenance schedules and service needsÂ
- Coordinate preventative maintenance with branch locationsÂ
- Ensure vehicles remain safe, reliable, and compliant with service standardsÂ
Other Duties
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support operational needsÂ

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Experience
- 5–8 years of related facilities management, building operations, or construction oversight experienceÂ
Education
One or more of the following:
- Associate degree in a related field, ORÂ
- Technical certification or licensing, ORÂ
- Specialized facilities or trade training, ORÂ
- Equivalent hands-on experience through apprenticeship or progressive responsibilityÂ
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)Â
- Ability to manage multiple contractors and projects simultaneouslyÂ
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skillsÂ
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and diplomacyÂ
- Ability to build relationships and resolve conflict effectivelyÂ
