The City of Minot is accepting applications for the position of Light Equipment Operator in the Street Department of Public Works with an application deadline of Thursday, July 23rd, 2026. This position is open to all qualified internal and external applicants.
Nature of Work
This is work involving the skilled operation of light motorized equipment and manual laboring activities. Operates a variety of motorized equipment and vehicles including various trucks, front-end loaders, riding mowers, small and full-size tractors, backhoe, sweepers, small dozer, and other related vehicles and equipment. Operates a variety of hand and power tools as part of construction or maintenance on work assignments. Please read the attached job description for complete details.

Education, Experience, Other Requirements
- Completion of high school and two years of experience in the operation of construction and maintenance equipment, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Possession of a valid North Dakota commercial driver's license is highly preferred, with appropriate endorsements for equipment used. Applicants without the appropriate current commercial license will be reviewed based on previous work experience and education.
- Ability to obtain a valid North Dakota commercial driverās license and proper endorsements within six months of employment is required.
Compensation and Beneļ¬ts
- The assigned salary range for Light Equipment Operator under the 2026 City of Minot Annual Pay Plan isĀ aĀ Grade 47, which is $19.46 per hour- $28.89 per hour or $40,480- $60,093 annually.Ā
- This is a full time, FLSAĀ Non-Exempt position eligible for overtime.
