This role conducts targeted patient assessments, supports diagnostic and procedural activities, and delivers education to help patients understand treatment plans, preventive strategies, and recovery expectations. Working collaboratively with orthopedic providers, imaging services, rehabilitation teams, and clinic staff, the RN helps ensure coordinated, patient-centered care throughout the treatment process. The position functions within a supportive, specialty-focused environment where communication, teamwork, and attention to detail are essential. Through accurate documentation, adherence to safety and quality standards, and proactive patient support, the RN Clinic, Orthopedics contributes to positive clinical outcomes and a high-quality orthopedic care experience. Key Responsibilities: Perform orthopedic-focused assessments, administer ordered treatments, and assist providers during exams, splinting, casting, injections, and minor procedures. Coordinate imaging, laboratory testing, referrals, and follow-up appointments to ensure timely evaluation and continuity of care. Document assessments, interventions, and patient education accurately in the electronic health record in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. Educate patients and families on postoperative expectations, mobility precautions, pain-management guidance, and rehabilitation instructions. Collaborate with providers, physical therapy, and ancillary staff to monitor patient progress, respond to concerns, and support safe care transitions. Participate in quality initiatives, maintain competency in point-of-care testing, and complete required training to support clinical readiness in the orthopedic specialty. QualificationsLicenses and Certifications Required: Current or temporary RN license in ND or compact RN licensure. CPR required within orientation period. Ongoing Point of Care certifications as required for department required within orientation period. Educational Requirements: RN program as evidenced by licensure. BSN preferred. Experience Requirements: One year or more of professional nursing experience preferred. Clinic experience preferred. Coding experience preferred. Special Skills or Training Requirements: May include travel to satellites. Computer use. Trinity community clinics  draw and package lab tests. Physical Requirements: The RN Clinic, Orthopedics frequently stands, walks, and moves between exam rooms while assisting patients with limited mobility or orthopedic devices. The role requires bending, reaching, and lifting or positioning medical supplies, braces, and occasional assistance with patient transfers. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are essential for performing assessments, applying supportive devices, and assisting with orthopedic procedures. Environmental Requirements: Work occurs in an outpatient orthopedic clinic with regular exposure to patients experiencing acute injuries, chronic musculoskeletal conditions, and postoperative needs. The role may involve handling laboratory specimens, using disinfectants, and adhering to strict infection-control and PPE protocols. The environment can be fast-paced with variable patient volumes and urgent orthopedic needs, requiring flexibility, attention to safety, and compliance with confidentiality and regulatory standards.
