Job Summary

The General Manager (GM) at Marina Bar & Grill is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and guest experience of this high-volume waterfront restaurant. The GM oversees all front-of-house and back-of-house operations, ensuring exceptional service, strong financial performance, and a positive team culture aligned with the Sandestin standard of hospitality.

This hands-on leadership role requires a highly motivated hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced, outdoor dining environment. The GM will lead, mentor, and develop a dynamic team while maintaining operational excellence, driving revenue, and creating memorable experiences for resort guests and locals alike.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee all daily restaurant operations including front-of-house and back-of-house service, food quality, and guest satisfaction
  • Lead, inspire, and develop managers, supervisors, and hourly team members through coaching, training, and performance management
  • Maintain a strong presence on the floor during peak service periods to ensure exceptional hospitality and operational efficiency
  • Manage restaurant financial performance including labor management, food and beverage cost controls, and revenue goals
  • Recruit, hire, train, and schedule team members to maintain a high-performing and guest-focused staff
  • Foster a positive, team-driven culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and guest service excellence
  • Address guest feedback and resolve service issues quickly and professionally to maintain strong guest relationships
  • Collaborate with resort leadership on marketing initiatives, special events, live entertainment programming, and seasonal promotions
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and company standards
  • Oversee inventory management, purchasing, and vendor relationships to maintain product quality and cost efficiency
  • Maintain the atmosphere and brand identity of Marina Bar & Grill, ensuring a welcoming, energetic waterfront dining experience
  • Serve as a key ambassador for the restaurant within the resort and the local community

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of restaurant management experience, including General Manager or senior leadership experience in a high-volume restaurant, resort, or waterfront dining concept
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop large hospitality teams
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, labor costs, and inventory
  • Exceptional guest service mindset and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing outdoor dining environments, entertainment programming, or resort-style venues preferred
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with POS systems, scheduling platforms, and restaurant management software
  • ServSafe and alcohol certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Flexible availability including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak resort seasons

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 10 hours per shift)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, humidity, and occasional rain
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and movement throughout restaurant operations
