X-Ray Tech - South Bend Orthopaedics

Founded in 1947, South Bend Orthopaedics (SBO), a proud partner of OrthoAlliance, provides specialized care for musculoskeletal surgery, orthopedic rehabilitation and the treatment of sports and work-related injuries. SBO has served northern Indiana and southwest Michigan for decades and has been the orthopaedic surgeons for the University of Notre Dame Athletics Department since 1949. Services include joint replacement, sports medicine, upper and lower extremity surgery, pain management, imaging and physical and occupational therapy. With 20 physicians and a team of advanced practitioners, SBO delivers comprehensive orthopedic care across multiple locations. The X-Ray Technologist prepares patients for x-ray, including positioning the patient correctly, operate x-ray equipment. Individuals in this role are responsible for making patients feel comfortable during the procedure and protecting staff and patient from radiation exposure.

• Prepare patients for radiological procedures, communicate the process to the patient and take x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
• Use and maintain a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
• Evaluate and ensure equipment is in working order, reporting all malfunctions or concerns to supervisor in a timely manner.
• Process and enter radiological procedure information into electronic health record as soon as completed and provide additional reports and information as needed.
• Evaluate and maintain examination rooms to ensure rooms are clean and stocked, including ensuring necessary medical and radiological supplies are filled; sterilize and clean room and equipment as required by standard procedures.
• Places a high priority on and maintains strict confidentiality in all situations.
• Participates in professional development activities and maintains applicable professional affiliations and certifications as required.
• Attends and participates in required organizational meetings and committees as requested.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Completion of course in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists. Must maintain certification with the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (AART) and an active Indiana State license.
