We're Hiring: Pharmacy Assistant
Southern Cancer Center is hiring a Pharmacy Assistant to support our licensed pharmacy operations under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist at our Providence Hospital location.
 Position Overview
As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will perform technical, nonjudgmental tasks related to medication preparation, distribution, inventory control, and record keeping. Your work will be verified by a registered pharmacist or nurse, and you’ll play a key role in ensuring safe and efficient pharmacy operations.
Responsibilities
 Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing medication orders, including compounding and admixing under supervision.
- Verify patient and physician information for accuracy.
- Admix drugs per department and OSHA guidelines.
- Calculate dosage volumes and convert between metric/apothecary equivalents.
- Maintain controlled drug counts and proper disposal of materials.
- Support inventory control, temperature logs, and documentation of lot numbers.
- Prepare labels, file records, and assist with billing and data entry.

✅ Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 0–3 years of experience in a pharmacy setting.
- Ability to perform manual tasks with precision and attention to detail.
- Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Corrected vision and hearing required.
 Work Environment
- Exposure to patients and medicinal substances, including chemotherapeutic agents.
