SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The ADRC Specialist is responsible for serving as the initial point of contact for ADRC services, ensuring that clients and potential clients are directed to the appropriate team member for services assistance. Responsible for ensuring that required reporting is completed accurately and in a timely manner.


SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:

Receives general supervision from the ADRC Coordinator. Supervisor sets the overall objectives and employee and supervisor, in consultation, develop the deadlines, projects, and work to be done; employee is responsible for planning and carrying out the assignment; and work is reviewed only from an overall standpoint.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1.Answering incoming calls, to provide information, assistance, services and referrals for older clients, adults with disabilities, caregivers and the general public as a single point of entry to public long-term services and support. Routs incoming calls and walk-ins to the appropriate team member for assistance.

2.Attends meetings conference and training as deemed appropriate by SARPC, ADSS, and the Alabama Medicaid Agency.

3.Inputs client intake information into Peer Place information and referral program.

4.Reviews appropriate reports, releases, brochures, and other material to keep informed of latest developments that relate to issues encountered by clients.

5.Completes required reporting as mandated by the program in a timely manner. Collects required information for any and all reporting tools and any other information required by various fund sources, Medicaid, and ADSS.

6.Assist clients with enrolling or updating enrollment for SHIP/Medicare benefits during annual open enrollment.

7.Complete the “Individual Interaction: Basic Interaction Forms” detailing outcomes of calls with SHIP clients as well as the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) reports.

8.Build community relations through professional referral interactions and community referralsources.
9.Other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1.Knowledge of social work programs and processes.
2.Knowledge of community resources and support network available to clientele served.
3.Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability act (HIPAA).
4.Excellent communication skills, both orally and written.
5.Excellent organizational and time management skills.
6.Ability to relate to the elderly and their unique problems.
7.Knowledge and ability to operate office equipment.
8.Knowledge and ability to do basic arithmetic.
9.Ability to read and interpret guidelines and regulations and apply them to the job.
10.Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Social Work, behavioralSciences, Psychology, Geriatric Studies, or a related field with a minimum of two (2) years ofwork-related work experience.
11.Ability to obtain the following certifications with twelve (12) months of hire.:

  • Inform USA’s Community Resources Specialist
  • Person Center Training (PCT)
  • SHIP


WORK CONDITIONS:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work
