Responsibilities

  • Receives verbal/written assignments from RN
  • Assists with and accompanies patients on admission, discharge, and transfer
  • Takes and records vital signs and weight
  • Performs blood glucose monitoring
  • Records accurate intake and output (to include NG, chest tube, ostomy bags, foley, etc.)
  • Reports any skin condition to RN
  • Reports any changes in patient condition to RN
  • Accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records
  • Assists patients with positioning and/or transfer from stretcher to bed/wheelchair
  • Assists patients with activities of Daily Living
  • Answers patient call lights promptly
  • Distributes water and ice
  • Maintains patient nourishment stock and monitors expiration dates
  • Cleans equipment between each patient use
  • Maintains clean and neat stocked areas and patient bays
  • Monitors unit supplies for outdates
  • Records daily temeratures on unit logs for warmers, refrigerators, and freezer
  • Cleans and defrosts refrigerators/freezers
  • Operates unit equipment as required
  • Runs unit errands as needed
  • Keeps hallway clear of equipment
  • Responds to overhead pages
  • Participates in orientation of new employees as assigned
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as required
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. Required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
