GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY: Lead and assist technicians in their assigned duties. Mentor mold repair technicians by passing along knowledge, experience, and best practices.   Exemplify shift standard of professionalism, knowledge, and, ability.\

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Troubleshoots mold, process and press problems to determine root cause of problems.
  • Replace & fits parts of molds, components, accessories & support equipment as needed.
  • Repairs, adjusts and modifies molds to address production issues and engineering changes.
  • Utilizes trade skills as appropriate, such as welding, polishing and machining.
  • Communicates with supervisors, processors & other technical personnel.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards of assigned area
  • Operate overhead cranes, powered vehicles and other machinery as needed.
  • Set job priorities for assigned staff and monitor progress throughout the shift
  • Ensures compliance with all standards, rules, policies and procedures for assigned staff.
  • Perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as, parts ordering, work orders and shift report
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of mold design including core, cavity, ejectors, lifters, hot runner heaters & thermocouples, cooling channels, frames and modules, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of requirements for proper mold preventative maintenance
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with others both written and verbally
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail & organization is critical.
  • Experience in all areas of job responsibility preferred.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Job-related experience with injection-molding mold repair of 1-5 years or more.
  • Physically able to bend, squat, twist, climb, push/pull, reach & lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to communicate well with others both verbally & in writing.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to utilize measuring devices such calipers, micrometers, gages, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Knowledge of all phases of injection-molding mold repair & basic understanding of process & presses.
  • Must be able to perform duties within small areas, as small as 2 ft x 2 ft.
  • Minimum High School Diploma/ GED.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule including nights and weekends
  • Able to work with minimum supervision in a team environment
  • High energy, self-motivated, enthusiastic, well organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with all departments
  • Capable of professionally dealing with changing priorities and requirements.
  • Ability to perform under pressure to meet schedule compliance and deadlines
  • Must follow all safety procedures including use of appropriate PPE.
  • Prefer current training in all training requirements.

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must complete all OSHA required training and all department specific training.
  • Lift Truck certification preferred.
  • Lock Out/ Tag Out training.
  • Hazardous Material training.
