TITLE: Senior Accountant 

DEPARTMENT: 995 - Accounting     


JOB SUMMARY: 

The Senior Accountant collaborates closely with accounting shares services team members, bank controllers, Corporate Treasury and other key business partners to ensure financial information is accurate, complete, timely and prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and established internal control standards.  

As a valued member of QCRH’s Group Operations (“GO”) Accounting Department, this position serves as a trusted resource by supporting daily accounting operations, participating in financial audits and examinations, driving process improvement initiatives, and contributing to special projects that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. This role this expected to exercise sound judgment, maintain strict confidentiality, and uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Support the Company’s accounting function by preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting support, and related regulatory reporting tasks for assigned banks, subsidiaries, departments, and general ledger accounts within established procedures and delegated authority. 
  • Serve as an accounting resource and backup for the Accounting Shared Services team and Bank Controllers, including support for bond portfolio accounting, daily open items, reconciliations, and other day-to-day accounting activities. 
  • Support accounting for the Company’s investment portfolios, including purchases, sales, maturities, and trades, and coordinate with Corporate Treasury and the Manager of Accounting Shared Services to ensure accurate recording and timely reporting. 
  • Prepare, review, and monitor daily and monthly account reconciliations, including Federal Reserve Bank accounts, open items, and other key accounts; research variances, resolve routine issues, and escalate complex or aging items as appropriate. 
  • Analyze monthly accounting entries and reconciliations, apply sound accounting judgment within established guidance, and support company-wide reconciliation, review, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance processes. 
  • Coordinate and complete assigned monthly accounting and financial reporting tasks for assigned banks, subsidiaries, and departments, helping ensure deadlines are met and reporting is complete, consistent, and accurate. 
  • Support regulatory reporting activities, including weekly and quarterly Federal Reserve reporting and quarterly Call Reporting, as assigned and under the direction of the Manager of Accounting Shared Services. 
  • Participate in Accounting Department projects, audit requests, new technology integrations, internal inquiries, and other initiatives that improve processes, reporting, and controls. 
  • Promote and apply QCRH accounting practices, workflows, communication standards, and internal control expectations to support collaboration, consistency, and service excellence. 
  • Provide guidance, knowledge sharing, work status updates, and support for training or processing documentation within assigned areas of responsibility, including active participation in department meetings. 
  • Comply with all company or regulatory policies, procedures and requirements applicable to this position.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred. 
  • Three to five years of accounting experience in public accounting within the financial industry is preferred.  
  • Strong understanding of accounting practices, procedures, internal controls, GAAP, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and reconciliation processes.  
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and communicate financial information clearly and professionally to support decision-making and issue resolution. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, Adobe, and other cloud-based applications 
  • Capability to manage sensitive information and uphold confidentiality 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, follow established workflows, and maintain a high degree of accuracy, accountability, tact, discretion, and sound judgment. 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Duties are performed in a professional office environment. 

SALARY & BENEFITS:

The minimum salary range for this position is $55,000 annually. The actual starting salary will be based on qualifications and business needs and may vary, as permitted by applicable state law.
