Job Description

Position Summary:

Plans, directs and controls all maintenance activities for Cumberland Mine’s CM and Outby areas.  Assists the Maintenance Manager, Mine Manager, Assistant Mine Manager, General Mine Foreman to maintain and to improve overall equipment availability.  Maintains a safe efficient and profitable operation through legal compliance, timely project completion, quality workmanship, and cost control in his/her area of responsibility.

Proficient in all aspects of communication, written and oral.  Skilled planner with the ability to execute the plan and to manage multiple tasks.  Ability to work in a team environment coordinating all maintenance activities with the operation of the mine.

Read, understand, and use maintenance drawings and schematics. Computer literate, windows, Microsoft office including outlook and IFS System.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure safe and legal compliance in all maintenance systems and activities for their assigned area.
  2. Evaluate and develop their workforce.
  3. Coordinate maintenance activities with appropriate managers.
  4. Ensure compliance with UMWA contract for area of responsibility.
  5. Ensure safe operation and condition of section equipment.
  6. Monitor distribution of maintenance overtime.
  7. Direct all maintenance activities for their area of responsibility.
  8. Coordinates with electrical engineer to plan and problem solve mine electrical installations and problems.
  9. Continuously manages to perform at or to reduce mean time to repair ratio.
  10. Control overtime costs by proactive planning and execution of preventative maintenance.
  11. Plan daily maintenance projects with the aid of maintenance planner.
  12. Manage daily and monthly maintenance costs.
  13. Ensures work performance according to mine standards.

Qualifications

Job Specific and/or Technical Skills Required

  • Ability to communicate, manage, motivate, and train.
  • Must have working knowledge of Federal and State Laws, UMWA Contract and Company Policies. 
  • Must be able to read, understand, and use engineering maps, drawings, and plans.
  • Prefer BS or Technical Degree in maintenance or mining related field.
  • Prefer PA State Assistant Mine Foreman Certification or PA State Mine Foreman Certification
  • Prefer PA State Electrical certification or ability to obtain within one year.
