Chemical Specialist

The Chemical Specialist will be responsible for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of chemical application through the creation and implementation of an area-wide chemical program. The role will work closely with engineering and operations personnel as well as various chemical companies and consultants. Duties include identifying and tracking program KPIs for economics and performance, reviewing chemical usage, pump variance and tank inventory, analyzing laboratory results and operational data to determine program performance, identifying optimization opportunities through testing, data analytics, automation, and chemical formulation, performing normalized cost economics, working with chemical vendors for program modifications, reviewing new technologies, managing chemical vendor program reviews, participating in root cause failure analysis meetings, providing routine evaluation of chemical service and HSE metrics, identifying training needs and scheduling accordingly, and other duties as assigned. Required qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, minimum five years of industry experience in a similar role, valid driver's license with acceptable MVR, and passing pre-employment background and drug tests. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Chemistry, experience with Microsoft Office, SAP and Spotfire software, and knowledge of surface equipment standards and sizing (ANSI/Nace). Physical requirements involve ability to stoop, stand, walk, pull, carry instruments, climb stairs and ladders, lift up to 50lbs, work overhead, perform fine manipulations, drive long distances, and work in loud, hazardous environments with appropriate safety measures.
