Position Summary: The Engineering Graduate Development program is a 2-year rotational program preparing recent engineering graduates with exposure and experience to the different aspects of manufacturing and product development within ASSA ABLOY.  At the end of the 2-year program, the graduate will be placed in full-time permanent position within the manufacturing and engineering team of the company in which they were hired. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The graduate program is a 24-month program designed to give newly graduated engineers exposure to manufacturing and product development, focused on the full life cycle process.
  • Trainees will learn about the ASSA ABLOY culture, network with leaders of the company and receive leadership training
  • Additional leadership and classroom training will take place during the training period
  • The majority of the time will be spent completing on-the-job field training in 2 -12 month rotations during the 2-year period:
    • 12 months in Manufacturing with projects in Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Operational Excellence
    • 12 months in Product Development with projects in design engineering for our exisitng product line and new product development 
  • During rotational assignments, Graduates will be exposed to all elements of manufacturing, in many cases performing each role for a day or part of a day to understand each phase of the process
  • Graduates will partner with department leaders to understand all department in the plants to include non-manufacturing roles like HR, Finance, Purchasing, Sourcing and Logistics

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher with a degree in Engineering
  • Interest in manufacturing and/or product development 

ADDITIONALLY, QUALIFIED CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO:

  • Demonstrate leadership skills
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Express ideas and information in a clear and concise manner
  • Recognize and respond effectively to unexpected situations and tight deadlines
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations
  • Demonstrate ability to complete tasks regardless of obstacles

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Hours may be irregular with supporting production, with a minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Work primarily indoors with a range of temperatures to include possible high heat in summer months.
  • Work around heavy and moving machinery
