POSITION SUMMARY

As directed by a licensed nurse, the Patient Safety Observer appropriately maintains patients per observation level, accurately documenting per observation log and maintains additional inventory logbooks on the unit, per protocol. The tech responsibilities include sitting with patients, transportation of patients to other departments when necessary. When not sitting, the Patient Safety Observer is also responsible for providing basic nursing care such as bathing, linen changes, toileting and feeding if needed and responsible for simple procedures and tasks that are assigned, such as routine vital signs, emptying foleys, drains, etc. and maintaining a safe working environment to ensure the patient's safety.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a Nurse Aide/Orderly course is desirable.
  • A certified nursing assistant is preferred.
  • Experience in the treatment of mental health andor chemical dependency is preferred.
  • BLS Healthcare Provider Status within 30 days of the hire date.
  • COAP - Care of Aggressive Patient is required within 30 days of the hire date.
