Get to Know Your Team: 

  • Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center is an 820,000-square-foot facility that offers the latest medical programs, cutting-edge technology, and patient-focused care that includes 365 beds, 1,200+ employees, and a 27-bed Emergency Room/Fast Track Unit.

Responsibilities

  • The Cook is responsible for preparing food items under acceptable conditions as outlined under state and local regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • The Cook will follow all established policies and procedures, and additionally, may be directed by the Executive Chef and/or Director of Food and Nutrition Services, to further assure that quality food services are provided at all times.
  • Consistently follow the menu and special diet instructions as prescribed by the attending physician.
  • Prepare food according to standardized recipes, therapeutic diets, and cooking schedules to meet mealtime schedules.
  • Assist in establishing food service during the production line, etc., to assure that meals are prepared on time.
  • Process food items according to diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing units.
  • Ensure patients, families, and retail customers receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Considerable knowledge of sanitation regulations and practices as applied to institutional kitchens.
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs or more and must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-year experience in institutional food handling.
  • Culinary school graduate.

 

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
