Overview

The Pictsweet Company is looking for experienced Refrigeration Technicians. The qualified candidate must be able to operate, trouble-shooting, and repairing of ammonia refrigeration system equipment/machinery as per the Standard Operating Procedures and other approved industrial standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operates the refrigeration system compressors, defrosts systems, condensers, evaporators, pumps, valves, motors and other controls as needed.
  • Operates and maintains the facility steam boilers, auxiliary steam equipment and water treatment system.
  • Repairs valves, fans, pumps, conveyor belts, air compressors, water systems, boiler systems and other related components as needed.
  • Operates the systems by observations of gauges, instrumentation, liquid levels, temperatures, and pressure systems as needed.
  • Repairs and replaces refrigeration components as needed.
  • Logs and keeps records of pressures, temperatures, gas and water meter readings as needed.
  • Performs Preventive Maintenance on all related refrigeration equipment as requested and required by the Process Safety Management program.
  • Operates the ammonia refrigeration system in a safe manner as required by the Process Safety Management Program.
  • Follows all safety guidelines set forth by the Company.
  • Maintains work areas clean, neat and organized.
  • Assists other departments.
  • Will don personal protective equipment (PPE) before commencing work
  • Must be able to pass a pulmanry test, and be a responder on the HAZMAT team.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Vocational training a plus

 

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years industrial experience operating refrigeration anhydrous ammonia unit.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules/signs, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.

OTHER:

  • Must be able to work 12 hr. shifts, 6 – 7 days a week (including weekends and holidays)
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts. 
  • Knowledge in safely using power tools, hand tools, and other tools related to the operation of ammonia refrigeration.
