Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely
- Load, unload, sort, and move freight throughout the dock
- Record shipment shortages or damage to help minimize cargo claims
- Complete shipping paperwork including bills of lading, manifests, freight counts, and hazardous material documentation
- Regroup and organize freight as needed
- Perform hostler duties, including moving trailers to dock doors or yard locations, when needed
- Conduct pre/post-trip inspections when performing hostler duties
- Maintain dependable attendance and work various shifts based on business needs
- Other duties as assigned
Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Â Previous warehouse, dock, or forklift experience preferred
- Forklift experience strongly preferred
- Hostler experience is a plus, but not required
- Basic math, measuring, and weighing skills required
- Experience using pallet jacks, dock carts, dock plates, load locks, and related equipment preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, dispatch, and managers
- LTL experience preferred
- Basic English proficiency (reading, writing, and verbal) required
