The candidates should be local to the Monterey, CA, area and have at least 2 years of experience teaching Russian to adult students on an intensive basis (6-8 hours daily).   Job Details Location: Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA Training days: Monday - Friday Schedule: on-call substitutions; schedule may vary by course and program needs Hours: 7:45 am - 4:45 pm   Duties and Responsibilities Plan and deliver Post-DLPT Russian language instruction using a variety of effective teaching methodologies to strengthen listening, reading, and speaking proficiency Develop instructional materials and collaborate with instructional team members on program delivery Administer weekly quizzes, assessments, and other evaluations to monitor learner progress  Provide mid-course written progress reports and coordinate with supervisory staff to address instructional needs Integrate instructional technology and online learning resources to support independent learning Adapt instruction to meet individual learner needs, learning styles, and mission-related language requirements Perform related instructional and administrative duties in support of the program  Assign homework tailored to the students’ needs and designed to reinforce daily learning. Provide exposure to appropriate skill development, idiom, and variant.   Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or a related field Minimum of two years of full-time experience teaching adult language learners in an intensive setting (4-6 hours a day) Experience teaching post-DLPT or similar advanced-level language programs Experience teaching U.S. military or government language learners OPI requirements: Russian: ILR Level 3 or ACTFL Superior English: ILR Level 2 or ACTFL Advanced Familiarity with DLPT, OPI, and other government-administered language assessments Working knowledge of ILR and/or ACTFL proficiency scales Experience integrating instructional technology into language teaching and assessment Experience using online platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Webex in teaching Native or near-native proficiency in Russian   Security & Access Employment is contingent upon the candidate’s ability to obtain and maintain access to a U.S. military installation. This includes a government security investigation, identity verification, and compliance with installation security policies.
