The Plant Controller is responsible for managing an organization's financial and operational controls, overseeing accounting functions like budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies. This role is key to maintaining financial integrity and supporting executive decision-making.
Job Duties:
- Oversee all plant-level financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, to ensure profitability and alignment with corporate objectives
- Maintain and develop the cost accounting system, analyze production costs and variances, and control standard costs. Plan and implement cost control and improvement initiatives
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial data, in accordance with ISO 9001 and other regulations.
- Ensure the plant operates in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Conceptualize, implement, and supervis general ledger and financial reporting processes and on time compliance of accounting standards
- Establishing documented systems, policies, desk manuals and procedures in finance and accounts, establishment and implementation of accounting controls
- Regular monitoring of vendors and customers reconciliations
- Oversee the conduct of all cash transactions, general ledger entries and physical verification analysis & corrective actions. Supervise and design processes for verifying and recording all claims and receipts received. Ensure up to date a cash book reflecting all payments/receiptsÂ
- Review authorization, documentation, control and accounting of Fixed assets
- Establish and monitor compliance to internal and statutory/ legal control procedures and laws
- Variance Analysis i.e. Budget v/s Actual analysis of Fixed overhead expenses for Corporate, Scrutiny of accounts, rectifications.
- Analyze all un-reconciled items on the monthly bank reconciliation as prepared and implement action if/when requested to do so
- Review overdue open advances, deposits for collections
- Keep track of accounts payable and the short-term liabilities to ensure timely payment to vendors
- Oversee archiving of financial documents, input and output records, including General Ledger and Trial Balance
- Co-ordinating with Corporate accounts for monthly closure.
- Co-ordinating for statutory and Tax audit.
- Focus on co-ordination with other departments for collection of data/information for timely recording of transactions and develop system and processes to eliminate non-value-added activity and to minimize errors for improving efficiency
- To provide necessary support & training to account personal so that they can discharge their responsibility efficiently
- Interfacing with Auditors statutory and internal auditors and providing them with all necessary documents for the audit process
- Review of Controls & Correction in accounts department.
- Preparation and analysis of stage wise production and process costing, overhead costing: Budget vs. Actual, Batch wise cost, stage wise allocation
- Prepare valuation of Finished Goods, Raw Material, and Work In Progress and reconcile all to General Ledger.
- Monitoring the production costs and updates the costs sheets on a regular basis
- Overhead budget vs. actual variance analysis.Â
- Calculate labor and overhead rates for standard cost system.
- To prepare monthly MIS and P&L and Cash flow for presentation for management review
- Prepare and analyze monthly Working capital position and present to management for review with remarks on optimization / risk areas
- Help team with ad hoc analysis like inventory reconciliation, fixed cost reduction areas, scenario analysis, costing for new product launches / proposals
- Analyze P&L and cash flows and help in preparation and monitoring of 13 week rolling cash flows
- Prepare ABP with inputs from various departments and do monthly tracking against ABP
Basic Minimum Requirements:Â
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- CPA
- 10-12 years related accounting/finance experience
- Experience in a manufacturing or plant environmentÂ
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (e.g., GAAP) and financial analysis
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related fieldÂ
- Clear understanding of financial statements including balance sheets
- Ability respond to situations outside of normal working hours as needed
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility; adaptable to change in work assignments/priorities
- Strong planning and organizing skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skillsÂ
- Ability to lead problem solving and troubleshooting efforts for material variances
Preferred Qualifications:Â
- 5-10+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role within a manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on cost accounting and variance analysisÂ
- Advanced knowledge of Cost Accounting in a consumer products or manufacturing environment
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point), Microsoft GP; SAP
Physical Requirements:
- Employee must be able to work in a manufacturing plant environment
- Sitting for periods of time working in front of a computer screen
