Overview
The Associate Engineer is responsible for providing support for all Engineering requirements on the Module Lines, working as part of a Task Force Team for line operations, assisting with implementation of process improvements, recommending tooling requirements, keeping records, managing assets, corresponding with associated departments, leading projects, performing time studies, and assisting with line of balance management. Â
Responsibilities
 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
- Specify special tools and fixtures to be used in assembly processes where requiredÂ
- Estimate cycle times and costs for each operation in the processÂ
- Maintain control of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) drawings and revisionsÂ
- Ensure that the Assembly process is capable of producing parts to customers’ specificationsÂ
- Modify the process and update all relevant documentation when required (ex: Process Sign-Off [PSO] and other production documents)Â
- Support continuous improvement of all quality-related findingsÂ
- Maintain engineering documents according to TS 16949 requirements and transmit information to other departmentsÂ
- Write concise and direct work instructions for assembly requirements in each operationÂ
- Attend production meetings as required and disseminate information to relevant team membersÂ
- Deliver presentations to customers regarding topics such as downtime, defects, new vehicle launches, system errors, cooperative projects, and audit activitiesÂ
- Work in conjunction with Manager to identify training needs and participate in training as requiredÂ
- Work in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations and report noncomplianceÂ
- Report defects in protective equipment, devices, or clothing to managementÂ
- Maintain a clean and safe work areaÂ
- Operate in full compliance with TS 16949 systemÂ
- Comply with and promote safety in the workplaceÂ
- Prompt, regular, predictable attendanceÂ
- Physical presence at work during all scheduled work hours Â
- Overtime and weekend work as requiredÂ
- Required to work with, handle, store, or otherwise manage hazardous materials, and must comply with all applicable regulations established by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Â
- Responsibilities include ensuring safe and compliant management of hazardous materials in accordance with state and federal regulatory requirements. Â
- May be required to participate in training for handling of hazardous materials. Â
- All other job duties as assigned.

 This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and escalate matters as required

Required Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent

- Good written and verbal communication skillsÂ

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suiteÂ

Preferred Education & Experience:
- Experience in automotive manufacturingÂ
- Experience with 2D and 3D CAD programsÂ
- Knowledge of Six SigmaÂ
- Degree in Engineering

Working Conditions: Â Office setting, some walking within and between buildings
- 70% in office, 30% on production floorÂ
- Traversing production floorÂ
- Use of protective equipment, devices, and clothingÂ
- Ascending/descending laddersÂ
- Lifting 40-50 lbs.Â
- Possible international travel to HeadquartersÂ
- Domestic travel to customers, suppliers, or other sites as neededÂ
