Lead Printer Technician
Salary: $50 - $70k, based upon experience
ROLE:
Ensures smooth, high-quality printing by setting up presses, managing inks, overseeing color matching, troubleshooting issues, training operators, and enforcing strict safety/GMP rules, essentially leading the cell to meet production targets with minimal waste while also managing supplies and assisting with breaks.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Machine operation and setup: Set up and operate dry offset printing presses for new jobs, including managing all changeovers according to job schedule.
- Quality control: Monitor production runs to ensure high-quality results and identify/correct defects by adjusting ink balance, color registration, and pressure.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on printing machinery to keep it in optimal working order.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve any technical or mechanical issues that arise during the printing process.
- Ink management: Mix and adjust inks to match specified colors for each job.
- Production support: Ensure all necessary components are available, manage production paperwork, and conduct proper handovers to the next shift.
- Training: Provide training and guidance to other print operators to ensure efficient and effective production.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED, with 3-5 years prior Printing experience and technical certifications in printing technology.
- Experience working with machinery
- Strong interpersonal skills to be able to train, communicate, and lead effectively.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking skills and problem-solving skills

- Lead the Preventative Maintenance and Tooling/ Set-up Teams

- Work with plant maintenance team to troubleshoot equipment operating issues and develop corrective and preventive actions to avoid them.
- Ensure products meet specifications.
- Continuous improvement efforts to improve process and equipment productivity.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
- Stay up to date on evolving equipment and methods, implementing as necessary.
- Good understanding of mechanical principles and applications.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical equipment and tool prints.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements of GMP, SQF, Safety and Standards of Conduct policies and procedures.
SAFETY:
- Demonstrated ability to comply with all Company policies and procedures and to uphold, support and exemplify the safety programs and standards.
ADA – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work an 8-hour shift with overtime as required
- Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 7 hours during an 8-hour shift.
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to climb ladders. Stoop, Kneel, Crouch or Crawl: 10% of the shift.
- Ability to lift 35 lbs.
- Speak and hear constantly.
- Use of fingers, hands and arms constantly.
