Overview
Tooling technicians are responsible for all mold maintenance and quick response and improvement repairs to ensure production runs smoothly.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Mold preventive maintenance (light PM/full PM/cooling line cleaner, etc.)
- Immediately repair molds that develop problems during production
- Modify production molds according to Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
- Repair production molds and A/S molds
- Create and maintain post-repair reporting documents
- Maintain spare mold parts
- Maintain an organized workspace according to 3R5S standards
- Wear all necessary equipment, protective gear, or clothing
- Prompt, regular, predictable attendance
- Physical presence at work during all scheduled work hours
- Overtime and weekend work as required
- All other job duties as assigned
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 4 years of experience in Mold and Tooling in the automotive industry
- 2 years of experience in Mold and Tooling in precision machining
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques
- Knowledge of manufacturing technology and trends
- Ability to work independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Completion of a relevant training course and experience as a mold technician
- Proficient in milling, lathe, grinding, laser welding, and argon welding
Working Conditions
- Traversing around production floor
- Operating hand tools
- Ascending/descending ladders
- Occasionally lifting 40-45 lbs.
- Position hours are 1:00 P.M.- 12:00 M.
- Work hours are subject to change to meet production needs
- Overtime as needed
