We partner with our retailers to support their garden centers throughout the Midwest, Northeast, and South-Central U.S. We currently operate in five states and we are the 12th largest greenhouse grower in the U.S.  We are excited to announce a rare opening for an Account Manager for our Direct Buy Accounts.  POSITION SUMMARY: The Account Manager for Direct Buy Accounts is responsible for managing, growing, and supporting relationships with assigned direct-buy customers and Independent Garden Centers in MN, ND, SD, and IA. This position serves as the primary point of contact for customers while collaborating closely with production, sales, and ownership to ensure successful seasonal programs. This is a hands-on, relationship-focused position with varying responsibilities throughout the year. During the spring season, this role requires extensive travel to customer locations throughout the territory. During the summer and fall, the Account Manager works primarily from our greenhouse location in Monticello, partnering with production, sales, and management to develop product offerings, forecast customer needs, and plan for the upcoming growing season. This is a salaried, benefited position that follows a seasonal schedule, averaging 40-50+ hours per week and 6 days during the busy spring season and 20–30 hours per week during the off-season. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Comprehensive, but not limited to:) Seek out, respond to, and follow through with potential customer leads, ensuring each opportunity aligns with our capabilities. Prepare sell sheets and order forms for all products; communicate and distribute them to current and prospective customers. Travel extensively during the spring season to visit customer locations, strengthen relationships, monitor product performance, support merchandising efforts, and ensure we are meeting or exceeding customer expectations. Maintain regular communication with assigned accounts to build long-term partnerships and ensure successful future seasons. Collaborate with production, sales, and management during the summer and fall to forecast customer demand, assist with production planning, and prepare for upcoming growing seasons. Incorporate customer surveys and feedback into production planning and continuous improvement efforts. Shop the competition, documenting products, merchandising, and pricing to identify market opportunities. Develop packaging and labeling for existing and new products within your territory to ensure we remain competitive. Complete special projects as assigned. QualificationsEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Account Management experience in similar field preferred, not required. Garden Center Merchandising experience preferred, not required. Plant knowledge is preferred. At least 2 years of customer service experience. Strong knowledge of MS Office programs.  EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High School/GED or equivalent  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:  Possesses a high level of written and oral communication skills. Strong personal presence with excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills. Ability to work with a team to accomplish personal and organizational goals. Does what it takes to get the job done.  Seasonal Schedule & Travel Requirements: Spring (Peak Season): Extensive travel to customer locations throughout the territory. Overnight travel may be required. Frequent customer visits to support merchandising, sales, and account success. Workweeks of 40-50+ hours are expected during peak periods. 6 day work weeks for approximately 8-12 weeks (varies per season) Summer & Fall (Planning Season): Primarily office based. Collaborate with production teams on crop planning and customer forecasting for upcoming seasons. Develop customer programs, product assortments, packaging, and marketing materials. Prepare for the upcoming season through account planning and customer communication. Average workweeks of 20–30 hours.
