Jasper Health Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly organized Human Resources Generalist to support the day-to-day human resources functions of our healthcare organization. This position will work closely with leadership, department managers, employees, payroll, and external HR and benefit partners to ensure effective HR operations and compliance with organizational policies and applicable employment requirements.

The ideal candidate will be approachable, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple HR responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position requires a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, sound judgment, and follow-through.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment, Hiring & Onboarding

  • Coordinate recruitment and hiring activities for open positions.
  • Post job openings and assist department managers with applicant screening and interview coordination.
  • Prepare and process approved employment offers.
  • Conduct reference and background checks and coordinate pre-employment requirements, including drug screens and physicals as applicable.
  • Complete new-hire paperwork and ensure all required employment documentation is obtained.
  • Conduct or coordinate new employee orientation and onboarding.
  • Ensure required licenses, certifications, credentials, and employment documentation are obtained and verified prior to employment.
  • Maintain systems for monitoring expiration dates of licenses, certifications, and other required credentials.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, and routine employee-relations matters.
  • Assist managers with employee counseling, corrective action, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary documentation.
  • Participate in employee investigations and assist with gathering statements, documentation, and other relevant information.
  • Assist leadership with employee complaints and grievances while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
  • Support annual employee performance evaluation processes.
  • Promote consistent application of organizational policies and employment practices across departments.

Benefits Administration

  • Assist employees with health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and other employee benefit programs.
  • Process employee benefit enrollments, changes, qualifying life events, and terminations.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment.
  • Coordinate with insurance brokers, third-party administrators, and benefit vendors to resolve employee enrollment and coverage issues.
  • Review benefit enrollment information and payroll deductions for accuracy.
  • Maintain benefit documentation and employee records.

Payroll & HRIS Administration

  • Coordinate employee information with payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of new hires, terminations, pay changes, deductions, and other employment changes.
  • Maintain employee information within HR, payroll, scheduling, and benefit systems as assigned.
  • Prepare and process personnel/payroll change documentation.
  • Review HR records and reports for accuracy and follow up on discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate employee demographic, employment, compensation, and status information.

Leave & Attendance Administration

  • Assist with administration and documentation of FMLA and other applicable employee leave programs.
  • Track employee leaves of absence and coordinate required documentation and return-to-work information.
  • Assist managers with attendance and tardiness issues and ensure consistent application of attendance policies.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation documentation and follow-up as assigned.

Compliance & Personnel Records

  • Maintain confidential and accurate employee personnel files.
  • Ensure required employment documents are complete, current, and properly maintained.
  • Complete and maintain Form I-9 documentation and other required employment records.
  • Assist with employment verification requests, unemployment claims, audits, and other HR-related inquiries.
  • Assist with compliance related to federal and state employment laws and healthcare employment requirements.
  • Maintain required HR records in accordance with organizational record-retention requirements.
  • Assist with preparation of HR documentation for regulatory surveys, audits, and accreditation activities.
  • Maintain employee health, background, drug-screening, and other confidential records separately and appropriately as required.

Employee Separation

  • Process resignations, retirements, and involuntary terminations.
  • Ensure required separation documentation is completed and communicated to payroll and benefit administrators.
  • Coordinate return of organizational property and removal of system or facility access as appropriate.
  • Assist with unemployment documentation and requests for employment information.
  • Conduct exit interviews when appropriate.

General HR Administration

  • Respond to routine employee questions regarding policies, benefits, payroll processes, leave, and other HR matters.
  • Prepare HR reports and maintain HR metrics as requested, including vacancies, turnover, attendance, recruitment, and other workforce information.
  • Assist with development, revision, communication, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee, compensation, medical, disciplinary, and organizational information.
  • Participate in HR projects and organizational initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other human resources duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of progressively responsible human resources experience preferred.
  • Healthcare, hospital, skilled nursing, long-term care, or other regulated-industry HR experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of employment practices and applicable federal and state employment requirements.
  • Experience with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, leave administration, disciplinary processes, and personnel records preferred.
  • Experience working with HRIS, payroll, applicant tracking, or benefits administration systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification is a plus but not required.

Position Expectations

This is an on-site, hands-on Human Resources Generalist position supporting employees and managers across the organization. The individual selected for this role should be comfortable working directly with employees at all levels and managing both routine HR administration and more complex employee-relations matters.

The Human Resources Generalist is expected to maintain a visible and approachable presence within the organization while ensuring that HR processes are handled consistently, confidentially, accurately, and timely.
