TELLER SUPERVISOR

MONTICELLO, IL

First State Bank and Trust is seeking a full-time Teller Supervisor to join our team. The Teller Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the teller function while providing exceptional customer service and supporting the development of teller staff.

This is a working supervisor position that combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on customer service. The Teller Supervisor works alongside the teller team, performs teller transactions, oversees operational activities, and helps ensure compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and committed to creating a positive experience for both customers and employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the daily operations of the teller staff, ensuring efficient and accurate customer service.
  • Recruit, hire, oversee, and train branch teller staff.
  • Lead, coach, and develop teller staff through training, performance feedback, and ongoing support.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all bank policies and procedures, ensuring operational integrity, compliance, and adherence to regulatory requirements within the teller function.
  • Conduct routine transactions within established guidelines, including cashing checks, accepting deposits, processing withdrawals, and handling loan payments.
  • Handle escalated customer issues and resolve them promptly.
  • Provide great customer service, including greeting customers warmly and professionally, actively listening to customer needs and address inquiries promptly, and handling customer complaints or concerns with empathy and efficiency.
  • Monitor teller balancing activities and assist with researching and resolving balancing discrepancies and outages.
  • Maintain accountability for vault cash and teller cash operations, including periodic cash audits and reconciliations.
  • Manage branch cash levels by ordering currency and coin as needed.
  • Oversees the operation of the ATM, including balancing, cash replenishment, and issue resolution.
  • Remain alert to potential fraud and take necessary precautions.
  • Educate customers about our products and services, including savings accounts, loans, and credit cards. Cross-sell relevant banking products based on customer profiles.
  • Maintain customer confidentiality and safeguard sensitive information.
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, and collaborative branch environment.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while representing the bank.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to Five years of similar or related banking experience required. Previous teller experience required. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving ability.
  • Availability to work Saturdays and other hours as needed.
