 About Our Opportunity 

We are seeking safety minded team members with an attention to detail for Shipping Lead opportunity on 1st shift in Montoursville, PA. The Shipping Lead supervises and directs efficient work flow associated with the Administrative and Operational requirements of the Shipping Department. 

 Responsibilities 

  • Supervises the daily Administrative Shipping functions in support of the departmental goal of 100% shipping administrative accuracy.
  • Provide daily supervision of departmental workforce including: providing direction, setting deadlines, training new employees and resolving problems.  
  • Responsible for maintaining records necessary for the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely report.
  • Works with Human Resources to interview, select, and train employees to fill vacant positions. 
  • Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.  Stays current with developments within the manufacturing and distribution field and shares expertise with others.
  • Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others, and works to maintain constructive working relationships.
  • Performs daily review of orders for shipment. 
  • Performs Data Entry when necessary.
  • Confers with managers / supervisors to obtain data required for planning and scheduling order requests.
  • Is liaison for order discrepancies with Blairs Operations and Corporate Customer Service 
  • Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.  Stays current with developments within the manufacturing and distribution field and shares expertise with others.
  • A commitment to company wide quality and safety is required.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned. 

 Qualifications 

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of distribution warehouse procedures, practices, and regulations. 
  • Ability to communicate with management, colleagues, line staff, and individuals outside the company in order to meet departmental goals. 
  • Strong analytical skills with a methodological approach to problem solving and implementation.  
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related documents.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and JDE.  
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of how to operate machinery for shrink wrapping, cardboard bailing for recycling, forklift, and pallet jack.
  • Continued education preferred.
  • One to three (1-3) years of experience in a distribution/manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Valid State Driver’s License required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use repetitive hand motions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to reach overhead, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds.
