Part-time Groundskeeper I

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont is looking for a part-time seasonal Groundskeeper to join our Facilities team. Location: Blue Cross VT 445 Industrial Lane, Berlin, VT

COMPENSATION: 

The base salary range for this position is $18.00-20.00. Please note that the range listed above is our good faith estimate of the hiring range for this role. If you are hired at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, competencies, education, experience, and internal equity across the current team.

GROUNDSKEEPER I RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collects and discards litter or other waste materials.
• Operates a variety of maintenance equipment such as shovels, rakes, etc. to complete assignments.
• Operates power equipment and other vehicles such as tractors, mowers, electric clippers, and other similar machines. 
• Ensures proper hydration of lawns, trees, and plants using hoses, watering cans, or other.
• Trims trees and vegetation and maintains flower beds.
• Maintains sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, planters, or other features; performs general cleaning.
• Delivers and spreads topsoil and/or straw over newly seeded areas. 
• Installs and maintains specialty features such as gardens and flower beds.
• Performs other related duties as assigned. 

GROUNDSKEEPER I QUALIFICATIONS:

• On-the-job training is offered.
• High school diploma/ GED 

COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

• Good verbal communication skills. 
• Basic understanding of grounds keeping and landscaping practices and procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently and thoroughly.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Basic understanding of how to care for lawns, greenery, and plants.
• Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawn mowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment.
• Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping. 
• Prolonged periods standing, walking, stretching, bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, and pulling. 
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. 
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions. 
• Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.
