Systems Administrator

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont is looking for a Systems Administrator to join our Infrastructure Operations and Services team. COMPENSATION: The base salary range for this position is $68,000-$78,000. Additional compensation opportunities and incentives will be detailed during the interview process. Please note that the range listed above is our good faith estimate of the hiring range for this role. If you are hired at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, competencies, education, experience, and internal equity across the current team. LOCATION: This role is a hybrid position with the expectation that the employee will be in our Berlin, VT office on Wednesdays and other days as needed with flexibility to work remotely the rest of the week.

Systems Administrator Responsibilities:

• Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot IT systems, including computer systems, networks, and servers to ensure their security, availability, and reliability
• Serve as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex Infrastructure systems.
• Recommend configuration changes of operating systems and system applications, investigate and analyze feasibility of system requirements and aid in developing system specifications.
• Identify process improvements, solutions, and participate in projects to provide a high level of service to customers.

COMPETENCIES:

• Subject Matter Expertise:
  • IT infrastructure technology experience, with particular emphasis on technologies in place at Blue Cross VT. These include Windows\Linux\VMware vSphere, Omnissa Horizon, MS SQL/Server Databases, NetApp, Ivanti, data center power and cooling, and remote connectivity.
  • IT infrastructure operations experience, including system and network engineering and support.
  • Experience with problem management and quality improvement techniques.
  • Fluent in the terms and concepts associated with health insurance system design/management.
  • Ability to deliver results through strategic relationships with key vendors and technology partners.
  • Knowledgeable and conversant with IT security concepts, threats, risk mitigation approaches, technical and administrative processes.
  • Ability to understand business issues and communicate and support resolution of business problems[BW1] .

Systems Administrator Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum four (4) years professional experience in information systems and/or network administration with significant network or system engineering and architectural experience.
• Proven ability to work with infrastructure production support teams and management of external service providers.
• Experience within the US healthcare industry is desired.
• Experience with Information Security solutions is desired.
