Position Duties:
Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator and/or Recreation Leader, Head Guard, or Lead Lifeguard on duty; the swim assistant/slide attendant is responsible for assisting with swim lessons and the operation of the water slide to meet the demands of the general public.Â

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are examples of primary duties assigned to this position. Other related duties may be assigned.Â
- Assists swim lesson instructor during swim lessons with class organization, lesson planning, and safety of participants.Â
- Ensures equipment and materials for swim lessons are ready and available at the start of each class.Â
- Maintains eyes on swim lesson participants at all times during classes.Â
- Responsible for operating the top of the water slide.Â
- Understands and enforces water slide rules and regulations.Â
- Assist in maintaining water slide is in safe and working conditions and performs safety checks of water slide.Â
- Ensures safe and orderly conduct and a safe environment for all patrons using aquatics facilities.Â
- Assists patrons with basic first aid as necessary, and assists lifeguards as needed with patrons who are in distress and/or need lifesaving measures.Â
- Maintains a professional demeanor at all times and makes an effort to establish a positive rapport with participants, spectators, and other fellow staff.Â
- Works as a team with other aquatics staff to carry out program goals.Â
- Attends required training.Â
- Communicates with the Lead’s if there are any questions, problems, or issues that arise.Â
Position Qualifications:
- Must be at least 14 years of age.Â
- Must be comfortable in water and be able to swim the length of the pool.Â
- Training will be provided to those without experience.Â
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends.Â
Physical Demands and Work Environment:Â
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and/or walk, sit, talk, hear, read, and write. May periodically need to reach, stoop, crouch, or kneel. Employee may be asked to lift/carry and/or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.Â
