Summary of Job Description:Â
This position is an executive level position reporting directly to the Tribal Council and is responsible for the overall administration and operation of the Tribal Member Services Department.Â
Specifically, the Executive Officer, Tribal Member Services will oversee and be responsible for the Health Department, Recreation & Community Services Department, Purchased Referred Care, Health Support Services, Behavioral Health Services, Family Services, Mohegan Pharmacy, Daycare, Education Department and Career Development Department. This position will also work closely with entities on the Mohegan Reservation to ensure the provision of quality health care, public health and human services.
The mission of the Tribal Member Services Department is the development, implementation and provision of culturally grounded services to improve and protect the overall well-being of Mohegan Tribal citizens, the Mohegan Tribal community and visitors to the reservation.Â
 Minimum Requirements:Â
- Demonstrated ability to develop, communicate, champion, and execute a strong vision that advances strategic objectives and long-term priorities
- Demonstrated ability to identify and prioritize issues and projects that impact the delivery of health and welfare services
- In-depth understanding of indigenous governance, cultural practices and needs of indigenous people as it applies to departmental operations and the community served by the Mohegan Tribe
- Strong experience in research, analysis and evaluation of programs with subsequent recommendations for change aligned with the overall mission of the Tribal government
- Strong ability to work with cross functional teams and history of achieving cross-functional outcomes and goals
- Demonstrated success in developing an effective business plan and its implementation to completion including reassessment of plan and measures of success
- Change management experience within a complex organization
- Excellent relationship-management skills across state agencies, tribal leadership and healthcare partners
- Strong financial management skills with governmental funding experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven ability to collaborate and gather opinions and ideas for consideration from all colleagues while successfully navigating conflicts
- Advanced degree in a Clinical Discipline or Public Health related field
- Ten (10) years’ experience in a healthcare leadership role preferably managing multiple departments and/or collaborating with other related departments to achieve mutual goals
- Experience with complex operational responsibilities, regulatory and compliance practices and budgets in excess of $20 million
- Successful candidate must pass the background check in accordance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act (ICPA)
- This position is primarily an on-site position
