Paramedic (Per-Diem), Mohegan Tribal Fire Department

Summary of Job Description: 

Incumbent responds to medical emergency calls and assesses the patient’s condition to determine a course of treatment; administers ALS (Advanced Life Support) on patient when necessary.

Minimum Requirements: 

• Ability to coordinate more than one patient at a time
• Knowledge of policies, procedures, rules, and regulations from the Office of Emergency Medical Services
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Paramedic I: One (1) year practicing paramedic experience and/or medical control through a local hospital
• Paramedic II: Four (4) to eight (8) years paramedic experience 
• Paramedic III: Eight (8) or more years paramedic experience
• Connecticut Licenses and Certifications
  • Paramedic
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) 
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) 
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support) 
  • Valid motor vehicle operator’s license from state of residency 
• Must acquire and maintain sponsor hospital medical control credentials 
• Facial hair must not interfere with a respirator mask 
• Must pass a medical examination annually, including a respiratory test 
• Must perform strenuous or peak physical efforts during emergency, training or station maintenance activity for a prolonged period of time under conditions of extreme heights, intense heat and cold
